Everywhere I go, I walk...and walk..blocks after blocks, opening my mouth often to ask about the way... and the latest discovery is Grant Street where the San Francisco Chinatown is...the place where Jackie Chan made a movie here too!
From the hotel where I am staying to Chinatown, it took me around twenty minutes to reach.. a very nice walk in the cooling weather, I have no complaints...
My pictures are not that attractive, I need to say..
Something very different from what others did...
along the Chinatown...
we were actually looking for chinese restaurants..
heard that the Peking duck is famous there...
and we just went into the first restaurant we came upon...
It was quite full when we entered..
but by the time we left, it was almost empty
except for a few tables not in this picture..
we ordered these.....
and half Peking Duck...
which came with just the crispy skin and small pieces of meat..
oh gosh! surely not enough to feed me?
we chose the pancake to be eaten with the Peking duck
and these reminded me of capati in Malaysia!
feeling not enough, we ordered these prawn dim sum...
And for the two of us.. the bill came to an astonishing $59usd!
Wow..I was thinking..for this amount of money
I could have a nice feast for some 10 people or more!
LOL....
The food looks good.....

ReplyDeleteHungry, hungry after looking at the pictures. You have fun, Claire.
ReplyDeleteNow you are eating Chinese food as we know it in America.
ReplyDeleteHar gow or Xiā jiǎo (shrimp/prawn dumplings) are my favorite with chili sauce! Here in Honolulu we have many Chinese regional choices plus local Hawaiian-mix style. Hope someday you visit here. Sand Francisco is the best city!

ReplyDeleteIf in Australia, i think it will cost around $40 and the quantity of food will be much more than that. Anyway, like my mum always says, "not many times lah".
ReplyDeleteA trip to SF won't be complete without a visit to Chinatown! Enjoy the rest of your trip.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy yourself. Do not bother too much about the money when you travel. Work harder to earn back when come back later lor :(
