White Beauty In Vios

One fine morning I received this image from Andy through whatsapp....
he sent me this to "tempt" me (sum-yuk-yuk)... hahahaa...
White Beauty!!

Andy knows I surely will be smitten with this latest Vios model, it looks so much better than the one we are currently using.   This son really knows my heart's desires but too bad he cannot afford to buy me one now!

Anyway, out of curiosity, I called the Toyota salesman and asked him the value of my current car if I were to trade in for a new Vios.  It is only one and a half years old and mileage is still below 20K.  I thought if the trade in value is around RM60K or so, I will consider....

But to my dismay, he could only give me RM55K.... and that means I have to lose more than 15K in less than two years?   It is really not worth trading in after all.....  Car value really depreciates  a lot..

There goes my White Beauty....hmmm.....

  1. It starts depreciating the moment you drive it out of the showroom. My old cars have no commercial value anymore I guess but as long as they are not giving me any trouble and take me where I wanna guy, I don't bother getting a new one - old man, no need to bergaya lah...plus poor pensioner some more. Save the money for other more important things.

  2. To me, as long as the car is still in good condition and can serve me, then I won't bother to change...and yours is less than 2 years, still quite new. Cars are like that, the moment you trade it, sure to make a loss.

  6. stp: for me, I travel quite a bit so i prefer a newer car.. i scared of car stalling half way while traveling... so that is why my budget is quite tight monthly. :)

irene: yeah, no point changing but I really like the model! :p

  10. We do not have Vios here. Cars really do depreciate though, don't they?

  11. Keep your car in tip top shape, keep checking...any slight noise, get to the root of the problem...the same if something feels kinda different when driving...and keep it clean at all times. Cars must be treated with tender loving care, give it the attention it needs, not only when it starts giving your problems...or stops halfway on the road.

  13. Depreciation depends on which variant/spec of Vios u r owning. If possible, try to find a direct buyer and u will be able to sell it above RM60k!

  15. Sometimes if unlucky buy new car also can get problems straightaway. I am with the rest, if the car can still be used, then just use it and service it often. The vios we have at home is first generation vios, hahaha.

  16. I would love to do a trade in if I could get 55k out of it but mine is from 2006 and I doubt I can.

The new Vios looks nice though, I have one two gens back!
