Trip To Penang For Food And Desserts

Last Saturday my girl and I set out on a clear sunny morning... we took a slow drive up north to Penang island for a two nights getaway, a day after I "unofficially" retired.
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright ... bright....
Sun-Shiny day.

Mama started the engine rolling down the tunnel...
till we reached the Panglima Bukit Gantang resthouse...
then the small girl took over the wheel...
because mama knows the roads are "straighter" and easier to monitor....
let her have a "feel" of how it is on a highway.....
but of course, mama's turn before reaching the toll...
So hungry we were... we ended up going to Perak Road...
Taking yam rice at Canton shop...
Salted Vegetables soup with meaty balls and varieties....
Long time I didn't take salted vege soup..
Ordered a small bowl of pork knuckles, beancurd and one egg....
The bill came to around RM14...
Next, we ended up in Prangin Mall....
At the Teochew Chendol Stall
In time to watch some "A-Go-Go" dancers in tune with some 1970s songs....
.... at the same time enjoying our bowl of cendol at the Teochew stall...
Creamy and Santan-ic as usual.....
Time to lose some calories after that....
We walked for a couple of hours doing some "window shopping"
before we proceeded to check in to our hotel at Tanjung Bungah...

  9. The soups both look so good! So special, the day after your retirement to have a special getaway with your girl! Does she have a drivers license or is she still leaning?

  11. A-go-go? Mea lei geh? I never heard this term before..

Me and my siblings have opposite driving experiences as your daughter. My big bro and lil sis first long distance driving experience is to drive to Melaka without our parents' knowledge. Me, my first is when I drive to Penang for interview, I basically received the call then immediately packed up, told me shell shocked mom and left..
