4 Homemade Gift Ideas

Sometimes it can feel that you are constantly buying gifts. There are birthdays and special occasions every month, as well as things like Christmas and Easter. There are some people that you can’t not get them a gift. The cost can add up, though, so some cheaper alternatives are always a good thing. Have you ever thought about making your gifts? It will save you money, and it has the bonus of being a unique and special gift. Your recipient will appreciate the gift and the sentiment of it much more than a standard store bought gift. Here are a few ideas of gifts that you can make yourself. They are pretty simple and easy to do too.

Baked Goodies

You may think that you aren’t much of a baker, but you can follow a recipe, right? A big cake may not be the best thing as they can be quite tricky. Good options for homemade baked goods are things like cupcakes, brownies, blondies or cookies. If you know their favourite flavour of cupcakes, then make those. If they like a certain cookie, then make them those. Sugar cookies are a good option too as you could just get a cookie cutter in a shape that they love. A dinosaur cookie cutter might work for a little nephew for example.

Trinkets Box
A small box for jewellery can be a lovely gift. The box doesn’t have to be an expensive one. To add a personalised touch, how about decoupaging the box? You could choose to use some photos or some pictures of magazine cutouts that are perfect for your recipient. It could even be turned into a more manly gift by decoupaging a comic book strip onto a thick cardboard craft box. You could even throw in some candy jewelry for a fun element to the gift. If you have never done decoupage, there are plenty of websites out there with decoupage tips.

Hamper
A hamper is always a winner for a homemade gift. It can be kept quite general or can be completely personalized too. You could get a basket or a box that doesn’t cost a lot. Then you could fill it with items that your recipient will love. It could be some of their favourite foods or sweets. It could include a DVD and popcorn if you know they are a movie buff. You could put together some bath or beauty products or include more home baked goodies. The options with hampers are quite endless!

A ‘Sew’ Lovely Gift
If you or someone you know are good at sewing, why not make a little gift using the sewing machine? A little tote bag would be a great option, and it is straightforward to make. As would be some cushions that match their bedding or living area. Fabric is quite low cost. It will just take your time to make them so make sure that you plan ahead and give yourself enough time to make it in time for their birthday or event.
