Hill Trail Up Air Itam Dam, Penang

ANOTHER ACTIVITY TO LOSE CALORIES IN PENANG is to walk up and downhill.  Penang has a number of interesting parks and hills for one to keep fit and healthy.  Among them, I specifically like to go uphill at the Air Itam Dam, just next to the Kek Lok Si Temple.  Limited parking is available and the area is open to recreational use such as jogging, walking and cycling.

As for me, I am into slow walking as for now.... wanting to reduce my durian calories, I have to bear with the pain on my leg and walked a 3KM trail up and down the hill....
It was around 6pm when we began our walk....
 Some are into cycling....
And many are into walking.... brisk walks unlike mine....
Yes, there are certain areas where I have to huff and puff uphill......
Coming downhill is also a problem for me.....
I have to be extra careful that I don't slip....
Along the way, we stopped to admire the land and water....
The Hills are Alive....
....with the sound of music...
Mostly creatures' making music in the evening....
On and off, I stopped to have a "breather"....
Oh, at certain area, I met up with a family of monkeys...
I saw a group of them on the road... just be natural and walk on...
Don't hush them out of the way.... they might snarl....
I think it took us almost an hour to reach the one 3KM round...
Well, I know... I am pretty slow....
If one is adventurous, it can lead to a 10Km walk and come down by the Balik Pulau way....
As for me, a 3Km is good enough for me....
Grateful for my Sketchers walking shoes...
Soft and light...
The scene on top of the reservoir....
And my exhausting look before the sun goes down...
Wonder how many calories are burned in this walk...
Time to go for a good dinner....

  7. Hahaha, I know some who would occasionally go: someone drive a bunch to Air Itam and drop them for the hike, then drive to Balik Pulau to pick them back up. You can also hike to the Botanical Garden if you want to. Not me though, I won't do these things...
