Quirky Things to Do in Singapore

If you have been planning for that long-awaited vacation to Singapore then look no further. And more so, if you have been wanting to explore the hidden gems of the place. There are several options from some of the most offbeat tourist attractions which will allow you to experience Singapore like never before. So, if your friends say they have already been to Singapore, don’t let that be an excuse. Plan a trip that includes some of the quirkiest attractions to make it a memorable experience.

There are several travel websites that offer amazing deals on group bookings so you can book cheap flights from Mumbai to Singapore. With that being taken care of, what remains is to plan your days to include activities and places which will ensure that you have an unforgettable trip to Singapore. So, here are some unusual things you can explore in and around Singapore.

Hipster Zones
Well, if you are college-going and would love to hang out in some of the most happening places in Singapore, then Haji lane would be the perfect place for you. With its quaint cafés, a lively atmosphere, epicurean food, and Bo-Ho Chic fashion this is “the” neighborhood. There are rock bands and cool music playing while you can savor burgers along with uniquely flavored cocktails.

Hawker Stalls
Singapore can proudly say that they are home to the only Michelin Starred Hawker Stalls. While it is widely known throughout Singapore and hence it is one of the more crowded places for you to eat, it is an experience by itself. Some of the queues are so long that you may have to wait for hours before you can place your order. However, taking a food tour allows you to skip the queues while you sample all the yummy food. For those adventurous and not faint of heart, try the frog-leg porridge which is a Singaporean delicacy.

Swimming Underground Hockey
If you would like something totally different, head out to the Queenstown Swimming Complex where this unusual hockey game is played out. This game started in 1950’s and uses a lead puck. The players suck in the biggest breath possible and head underneath to play using sticks and snorkels. This will give you a huge adrenalin rush of having played hockey underwater.

Hiking
The MacRitchie Tree Top walk is an amazing hiking trail which not only gives you incredible views of a secondary forest, but the free-standing suspension bridge has been made to connect the two highest points in the MacRitchie Reserve. It is a perfect way to view the flora and fauna while enjoying the thrill of walking the 250 m long walkway which is about 25 m at its highest point.

Unique and Unusual finds
If you are looking to shop around for something that will impress your mom or your special someone, step into one of the exhibitions hosted by Mata Hari Antiques. You are sure to find something that has never been seen before or is completely out of the ordinary. So, if you are like several others who hate the “manufactured by the hundreds” trinkets and souvenirs, check out these and several other vintage and antique exhibits.

Stand-Up Comedy Shows
Comedy shows are all the rage these days and Singapore is not far behind when it comes to boasting of fresh talent. Head out to Comedy Masala or Talk Cock Comedy with your friends and laugh the evening away.

So, book cheap flights from Mumbai to Singapore, pack right, and customize the vacation according to what suits you! You will never regret it.
