I ordered another batch of vegetables last week and this batch consist of vegetables mainly for soup purposes. Old melon, water cress, lotus root and local pumpkin are in the batch besides cabbage, sweet potatoes, dragon chives and taro. For these items they came to around RM40 plus with free delivery. Among them is one Taro aka Yam.
After 3 days, I took it out to cook with dried prawns, it is one of my favourite dish and I rarely have a chance to eat it. Happily I cut it into half.... but to my great disappointment, the yam has turned bad! Oh no, there goes my dish for the evening! How could it turn bad so quickly? I took a few pictures of the poor yam and sent it to the seller. To my surprise, he immediately replied with a refund image to my ewallet account. Wow.. that is fast! Yes, I got back RM9.10 for the yam....
The colour is like this.... not whitish....
Turned brownish.... yes, it has turned bad....
I have to throw it away....
Plan B... changed my menu for the dinner yesterday.....
Cabbage with prawns and capsicum....
Pan fried Salmon....
I wonder what you were going to cook with the yam. Here. it is very expensive, the pi nang variety, so nice for cooking claypot yam with prawns...

Yes, I've bought things that turned out rotten inside but I just threw them away. Just assumed that the seller did not know, got it from the supplier like that.
The seller is very good, refunded you for the yam that turned bad, no questions asked.
ReplyDeleteThere are 2 things that I have phobia to buy that's Avocado and Taro (Yam) because they always rot inside.
