Help Me Make It Through The Night...

Yes, Yes, I need some suggestions!!

Last night I spent few hours surfing for hotels in Singapore. My son suggested YMCA in Orchard road but it was full during the school holidays! Not Singapore school hols but Malaysia... how come we Malaysians love to go Singapore so much? Their currency is so high, nearly RM2.40 to $1 Sg! And yet.....

I don't want to spend a lot on lodging, came across Grand Central hotel in 22 Cavenagh Road / Orchard Road, seems to be walking distance along all the shopping complex. Yo! Talking about shopping, everything must be multiply by 2.4 times... so I better tell my girl that, huh...

Ok, back to this hotel, the rate is RM379 per night inclusive of 2 breakfast... cheap or not? I think that is the cheapest I can find along Orchard Road...

Anyone stayed in this Grand Central before? Any other suggestions? Please do share.. thanks!

  6. Hello

Came over from Irene's blog and saw this post. You could try http://www.tripadvisor.com. I always use this whenever I travel. The website allows you to filter your search base on city, price, location and hotels rating. Hope this helps :)

My friend's daughter, Jacquiline Chan, is running the place. Maybe she can give you something special...
But I don't think it's near Orchard... Anyway, there's MRT - heaps better than our KL's LRT. Ewek!

  27. Try your local travel agent - they may have special hotel rates. Like KL, Bintang Warisan RM150 through agent - cheaper than walk-in and online rates. I don't know about the Singapore hotels...butI know people in Kuching book through this one called Wah Tung - hotels like Grand Central...in RM, much cheaper and dealing with them direct.

  28. Rucksack Inn is on Facebook, You can like their page and then discuss with them there... Talk to Jacqueline, see if she can give you some good offer. She and a friend own the place... (If you remember, years ago...there was this duo - Malaysian gold medalists for synchronised swimming - she was one of them, from Kuching. Known her since she was a kid.)

  29. I wish I knew what your money means, but I only compute in dollars and sense. I wish you luck with the hotel!!!

  32. My friend recommend us to stay in homestay which she claims to be more comfortable and cheap. Just try to search for "short stay in Singapore".

  33. I think expensive. IN Singapore, when choosing hotel..choose one near the MRT or bus station. U can get anywhere easily. cab is expensive. also orchard road is very long. i stayed at one...not at orchard la...was rm100+ a night only

    ReplyDelete
  34. so ah... next time must find friend who has a house in singapore. can tumpang tumpang a bit. wakakakaka.

    i think expensive lor. :P

y not try out the lodging houses further away, only need to take MRT to orchard mar. very convenient also. last time i asked one nearby novena, less than 100RM per nite. cuz it's like a backpacker's inn. but quite comfortable one.

    ReplyDelete
  35. stayed in central orchard before, so so only.. not worth the price you pay.. suggest look for some budget hotels which near to MRT..

    ReplyDelete
  36. U dont hv to stay in Orchard area where hotels are generally more expensive. Stay at other outskirt areas, as long as there's MRT station nearby, you're set. The MRT is so convenient!

    ReplyDelete
  37. If i have the choice between Thailand n singapore. i will choose Thailand because the currency is low and the hotel is even cheaper than sg.

People at Thailand are more polite and friendly. I think i can buy cheap items in this country hehehe.

I never stay at the Grand central before...

    ReplyDelete
  38. I stayed there twice, ok la..
the price memang like tat, enjoy the trip k :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Try this. It's close to Orchard. Direct buses to central.

Comes without breakfast but you can always eat out. Plenty of nice and trendy restaurants nearby. Newton circus is near to the hotel.Hotel serves old authentic roast. Have fun!
