Koh Kee At Concubine Lane Ipoh

STARTED OFF MY TUESDAY WITH A GOOD MEAL in Old Town Concubine Lane, Ipoh.  I wanted to buy some stuff from the wholesale shops in old town so might as well my friend and I have our breakfast cum lunch there for it was almost 11am by the time we parked our car.  Initially we wanted to take the Gopeng wanton noodles but it was temporarily closed till 13 March.  Then we proceeded to the Golden Fried Noodles but it was closed too... Oh dear... what I was yearning to eat this morning was not meant-to-be.

By then my friend was complaining already... "Very hungry ah... quick, just eat anywhere.... "  For me, I cannot just eat anywhere, the food must be NICE otherwise it would be like wasting my stomach space... LOL.... At the same time, I wouldn't want to see my friend "faint" from hunger and the next shop that came to my mind was KOH KEE, a very traditional Chinese style of "Chu Char" situated at the now-famous Concubine Lane.  Heard that this shop is close to eight decades, not surprising, it has been there when I was a little girl... OK, little girl means I have been eating here since the 1970s...
This is how the shop looks like from the place I was sitting...
Everything is the same except that it has been repaired and repainted...
The design is still the same.... very traditional-like....
This is the best time to be here at this shop.. 11-12pm...
Any time later than that, be prepared to wait outside...
We ordered three dishes.... since my friend was so hungry by then...
I am afraid she might just "faint" there and then... LOL...
Steamed fish with ginger...
3 yolks eggs, chicken, century and salted eggs plus a dash of minced meat as toppings...
And Ipoh's springy and crunchy bean sprouts with crispy anchoives.....
For the three dishes with 2 bowls of rice and tea, the bill came to RM33....
Now I know why the crowd is always there... and the shop is sustaining till today...
There are many more signature dishes to enjoy..
Must arrange a bigger crowd to taste more dishes the next time!
LOL....
