This Is The Day...

YES, TODAY'S THE DAY I start to take these long term meds....,

Last week I went for a full blood check up in Pathlab and when the results came back three days ago, I had sleepless nights.

Firstly, high cholesterol of 7.4, much higher than my previous years of 6-6.5... *too much yummy unhealthy food is the cause, no doubt*

Secondly, my microalbumin creatinine aka ACR (Albumin creatinine ratio) is superbly high.  Whatever is microalbumin?  I googled it and found it to be related to protein in the urine.  Not many people will go for this test.  Normal blood test does not include this ACR, but since my package is inclusive, I got to learn a new term and this one worries me a lot.

The Pathlab lady advised me to seek the doctor for further treatment.  I did exactly that, I went to see a Nephrologist, kidney specialist in other words.  First thing, I was told to go for a scan in the private hospital, after a wait of two hours, the report was sent to the doctor.

Thank God, nothing is wrong with my kidneys, they look normal, no enlargement, bladder also looks OK, according to the report.  Only thing is why my ACR is so high, I asked the doc.  He said it Might be due to my cholesterol and high blood pressure that lead to the micro thing issue.  Oh, this is something new to him.

OK, how high is my blood pressure?  The night before I went to see the doctor, it has a reading of 164/100!!  First time in history, normal days I was perfectly normal, highest is around 117/73 more or less.... I thought I was going to get a stroke!

On the day I saw the doctor, he took three readings and the readings were sky high, 160/100 is the average, that is very shocking to me.  Oh dear, time to do something about it.... doctor's orders....

Today I started to monitor myself, started in the morning till now, the reading is around 140/86 more or less.  I guess something is really wrong in my body.... I have fallen into this category, Hypertension lady with high cholesterol.... I started on these meds prescribed by the doctor.....

Tonight I have to start on one of these...
I started on this too...
No play play...
Better safe than delay....
That is the minimum dosage....
I have to go back for checkup in a month's time...
No more invincible...

  1. Do take good care of yourself. If you are discipline, can control the type of food you eat.

  2. Oh, my friend, I am so sorry!!! BUT, I have been having the exact same problem! Mine went up to 170/110 once! Anyway, I have been going to the cardiologist to try and get it lowered with medicines. I am now on Metropolol, candesartin, and amlodipine!! Phil and I are both on the cholesterol meds, he is taking Lipitor. I have an emergency med that I take if my blood pressure goes over 160/90. It is called Clonidine. It lowers it pretty quickly. Also, some people get muscle cramps when they start the cholesterol meds. This is because it depletes your body of something called Co-Q 10. You can find these co-Q-10 tablets in the drug stores, my doctor takes them along with his cholesterol meds. And we always take them once a day. I hope I am not sounding bossy! But just want you to know what I have learned about this over the years. Feel free to ask me things!!

  3. Take care! I'm on Concor too. Lipitor is commonly prescribed to every Tom, Dick or Harry. No worries! Live a healthy lifestyle, exercise, take your meds, do not over indulge and stay happy!

  4. It seems to be "normal" to be prescribed with such meds when we reach a certain age. So far I am not on any, yet. Try to cut down on sugar and reduce carbohydrates/ultra processed foods. My cholesterol is higher than yours at 8.0 LOL!

  5. The 3 friends are the worst of all, best avoided if possible. But as age is catching up, it is hard to avoid them.

Need to listen to doctor and start taking med. Health is a treasure as we grow older.
